Tom Urmson Williamson was born on 16 February 1923. He was educated at Slough Grammar School and joined the staff of District Bank as a junior at its London Victoria Street branch in October 1939. He moved to Birmingham branch in 1940.

In August 1942 Williamson left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Flying Officer Williamson was killed in a flying accident on 20 January 1945. He was 21 years old.
