Thomas Ivor Ravenhill Wilson was born in 1913, the son of Thomas Edgar Barrett Wilson and Margaret Elizabeth Wilson.

 

In March 1927 Wilson joined the staff of National Provincial Bank. He worked at a number of branches including Lincoln, Retford and the bank's Overseas branch in London. 

 

Before the start of the Second World War, Wilson joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve whilst continuing to work for the bank. On the outbreak of war he was called up and was sent to an RAF training school, where he passed out top of his course and obtained a commission. On 9 January 1942 Pilot Officer Thomas Wilson was killed when the aircraft in which he was flying crashed just after takeoff in the UK. He was 28 years old and left his widow, Gladys, whom he had married in 1940.
