Thomas Eric Bruce Wilson was born on 23 October 1908, the son of Sidney, a dairy farmer, and Rose Mary Wilson. He was educated at Eltham College and St Mary's College, Sidcup.

 

In March 1927 Wilson joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at its London Princes Street office. In July 1929 he was promoted to clerk and moved to Overseas branch, which was also located in the Princes Street building. He moved to Eltham branch in January 1933. He married his fiancée, Florence, in Bromley at the start of 1937.

 

In October 1941 Wilson left his job at the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and was sent to South Africa to train as a navigator. After his training he joined a fighter-bomber squadron and flew in operations over Germany. On 17 July 1945 Flying Officer Thomas Wilson died on active service in the UK. He was 36 years old and left his widow, Florence and their infant son.
