Joseph Wallace was born in Johnstone in 1923, the son of Janet and John Wallace. He worked for National Bank of Scotland at its Johnstone branch.
During the Second World War Wallace left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Rifleman in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). He was killed in action in France on 30 July 1944. He was 21 years old.
Joseph Wallace is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
