Gordon Frazer Watson was born in Prescot, Lancashire in 1911, the son of Robert Frazer Watson, a veterinary surgeon, and his wife Alfina Barlow Watson. In March 1928 he went to work for Williams Deacon's Bank.
In October 1939 Watson left his job at the bank's Wigan branch to go on military service, becoming a Craftsman in the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers. He was killed in action in Belgium on 16 December 1944. He was 33 years old and left a widow, Adelaide Catherine Jeane, whom he had married in 1939.
Gordon Watson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Hardman Boulevard office, Manchester.
