Sydney Hudson Tyson was born on 3 March 1921, the son of Henry and Annie Tyson. He joined the staff of District Bank as a clerk at its Keswick branch in December 1937. He moved to Lancaster branch in March 1939 and to Lancaster Cheapside branch in July 1939.
In November 1940 Tyson left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Leading Airman in the Royal Navy. He was based at HMS Daedalus, a Fleet Air Arm shore airfield, when he was killed in a flying accident on 12 November 1941. He was 20 years old.
