Benjamin Charles Taylor was born on 12 February 1925, the son of Oliver Martin and Lily Ada Taylor. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its Seven Kings branch on August 1941. 

 

In May 1943 Taylor left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Coder in the Royal Navy. On 14 December 1944 the escort destroyer on which he was serving, HMS Aldenham, was sunk by a naval mine. Coder Taylor, along with most of his crewmates, was killed, He was 19 years old.

 

Benjamin Taylor is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Romford Town Centre branch.
