Kenneth Ross Small was born on 9 June 1912. In May 1928, shortly before his 16th birthday, he went to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Glasgow Pollokshields branch. In June 1936 he transferred to Glasgow Gallowgate.
In September 1939 Small left the bank to go on military service as a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery. He died of wounds received in active service in the Middle East on 5 August 1941. He was 29 years old.
Kenneth Small is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
