John Richardson Robson was born on 30 April 1919, the son of John and Mary Robson. He worked for National Provincial Bank. 

During the Second World War he left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Artillery. Lance Bombardier Robson was captured during the fall of Singapore in 1942 and died while still a prisoner of war on 23 September 1943. He was 24 years old.
