Roger Pertwee

Roger Pertwee was born on 20 October 1912, the son of Herbert and Annie Louisa Priscilla Pertwee. In March 1931 he went to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland at its London Western branch.

 

In 1939 Pertwee left the bank to go on military service, and by 1943 he was a Major in the Border Regiment. He was killed while flying over the Mediterranean on 2 October 1943. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Moira Angela, whom he had married in 1939.

 

Roger Pertwee is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
