Kenneth John Paton was born on 18 April 1915, the son of Thomas and Ainslie Porteous Paton. By 1936 he was on the staff of National Bank of Scotland. He worked at the bank's branches in Inverkeithing and Cowdenbeath. 

 

During the Second World War Paton left the bank to go on military service, becoming as a Gunner in the Royal Artillery. He died after the war, on 13 October 1945, of an illness contracted while on service. He was 30 years old and left a widow, Myra, whom he had married in 1942.

 

Kenneth Paton is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh
