Rowland Mullineaux was born on 23 July 1905, the son of Frederick and Harriet Ann Mullineaux. He joined the staff of Manchester & Liverpool County Bank as a junior at its Garstang branch in January 1922. He moved to Preston branch in 1924 and was later promoted to clerk there. In 1935 County Bank, as it was then known, was taken over by District Bank and Mullineaux became an employee of that bank. In September 1937 he moved to Blackburn branch, then to Preston 35 Fishergate branch in 1940, to Cardiff branch in July 1941 and to St Annes on Sea branch a month later, in August 1941.
In June 1942 Mullineaux left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Army Service Corps. Serjeant Mullineaux drowned in a swimming accident in Italy on 12 July 1945, a few days before his 40th birthday.
