Ronald Rutherford Morison was born on 17 April 1917, the son of Jane Margaret and Fred Hughes Morison. He was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Carlisle branch in July 1934. He was promoted to junior clerk in October 1934. He moved to Shipley branch in 1935 and to Whitehaven branch in 1936 before being promoted to clerk later that year. 

 

In September 1939 Morgan left the bank to go on war service inthe Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. On 13 April 1941, Pilot Officer Morgan was part of the crew of a Wellington bomber which took off from RAF Mildenhall, Suffolk, on a mission over mainland Europe. The plane was shot down and crashed in Calvados, France, killing five of the six crewmen, including Pilot died while on active duty. He was 23 years old.
