Ronald William Moore was born on 4 November 1913, the son of Sidney and Agnes Moore. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank in January 1933, and from November 1937 was based at the bank's London Vauxhall Bridge branch. A colleague who knew him there remarked, 'he was a very popular member of the staff here; a loyal and efficient worker, a good-natured and equable colleague, with a charming personality which made him the best of companions, both in the office and during many happy times spent together outside business hours.'
In 1940 Moore volunteered for war service, leaving the bank to join the Royal Army Service Corps in June 1940. After a period of training in England Private Moore was posted to the Middle East, but soon after his arrival there died of fever, on 3 December 1940. He was 27 years old.
