James Kenneth Mycock was born on 26 September 1920, the son of Wilfrid and Sarah Mycock. He joined the staff of District Bank as a junior at its Hollinwood branch in December 1936.
In May 1941 Mycock left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Flying Officer Mycock was killed on 13 June 1943, when his Mosquito crashed into the sea while returning from an operational flight over France. He was 22 years old.
