John Lester

John Thomas Lester was born on 24 August 1903, the son of Thomas Barnaby Lester and Margaret Annie Lester. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a messenger at its Newcastle branch in January 1937. 

In September 1939, Lester left the bank to go on military service in the Pioneer Corps, serving in Northern France. Company Quartermaster Serjeant Lester was reported missing, and later presumed to have died, on or after 17 June 1940. He was 36 years old and left a widow, Margaret Ellen.
