Duncan McDonald Kermack was born on 23 February 1911, the son of Lizzie and William McDonald Kermack. He joined the staff of National Bank of Scotland in March 1928 as an apprentice at its Kirriemuir branch and became a clerk there in 1931. He later worked in Dundee Chief branch, and then at Dundee Strathmartine Road.

 

During the Second World War Kermack left the bank to go on military service, and by 1945 he was a Captain in the Black Watch. He was killed in action in Germany on 23 March 1945. He was 34 years old.
