George Edward Johnson was born on 17 April 1907, the son of James and Sarah Alice Johnson. From October 1928 he worked as a messenger at Liverpool branch of Westminster Bank.
During the Second World War Johnson left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Gunner in the Royal Artillery. He was killed in an explosion in Germany on 1 June 1945. He was 38 years old.
George Johnson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Liverpool City Office branch.
