Cedric Raymond Jerwood was born on 28 February 1923, the son of Raymond George Jerwood and his wife Amy Lillian. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank in December 1939 and after a few weeks' training was posted to its London Charing Cross branch in January 1940.  

 

Jerwood later left the bank to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, training as a navigator. 

 

Flight Sergeant Jerwood died on 19 July 1944 as one of three crewmen killed when their Lancaster bomber was struck by enemy flak and subsequently crashed on a mission over France. He was 21 years old.
