Norman Hannah was born on 18 July 1923, the son of William Arthur and Annie Hannah. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank in July 1940, working at its branch in Leigh, Lancs. He later moved to Westhoughton branch.
Hannah later left the bank to go on war service, becoming an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy. He was killed on D-Day, 6 June 1944, while working to land tanks on a Normandy beach. He was 20 years old.
