Neil Henderson was born on 9 June 1910, the son of Donald and Christina Henderson. In May 1928, shortly before his 18th birthday, he went to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland as an apprentice at its Glasgow Dowanhill branch. In May 1932 he transferred to Falkirk branch.
In July 1941 Henderson left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Flying Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in a transport accident in Germany while serving with the army of occupation there on 1 July 1945. He was 35 years old and left a widow, Elizabeth Rae.
Neil Henderson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
