Luke Halford Harber, known to his family as Paddy, was born in 1918, the son of Sarah Ellen and Luke George Harber. He worked for National Provincial Bank.

During the Second World War Harber left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Berkshire Regiment. On 28 May 1940 Second Lieutenant Harber was killed in action in Belgium. He was 22 years old.
