Kenneth James Holland was born on 24 May 1920, the son of Fred and Gertrude Amelia Holland. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank at its Harlesden branch on his 17th birthday in 1937.

 

In November 1940 Holland left the bank to join the Royal Navy. He trained as a coder and spent his service engaged on Atlantic convoy work. Coder Holland died when his ship, HMS Polyanthus, was torpedoed by a U-boat in the North Atlantic on 20 September 1943. He was 23 years old.

 

Kenneth Holland is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest London Park Royal branch.
