Gordon Harvey was born in Glasgow in 1916, the son of George Johnston Harvey and his wife Janet Wilson Harvey. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland at its Clydebank branch.
During the Second World War Harvey left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed in action in France on 30 July 1941. He was 24 years old.
Gordon Harvey is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Gogarburn campus, Edinburgh.
