Edward Harrison was born on 11 March 1926, the son of George and Minnie Harrison. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its Workington branch in December 1942, when he was 16 years old.

He later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Stores Assistant in the Royal Navy. He died in an accident on board HMS Royalist when it was stationed off Sri Lanka on 20 October 1945. He was 19 years old.
