Carlton Harrison, known as Carl, was born on 6 May 1906, the son of Thomas Henry and Fanny Eliza Harrison. He joined the staff of Westminster Bank on his 17th birthday in 1923. He married Margery Wells Wyborn in 1933 and they had a son in 1936.

 

In 1941 Harrison left his job at the bank’s Bournemouth West branch, where he had worked since moving from Sneinton branch in 1937, to join the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was posted to North Africa in November 1942 and served there for three years. 

 

Flight Lieutenant Harrison died in an air accident in Tunisia on 19 October 1945, on his way back to Britain after the end of his posting. He was 39 years old.
