John Arthur Gibson was born in about 1914, the son of Robert and Alice Marian Gibson. He worked for Williams Deacon's Bank at its St Mary Axe branch in London.
During the Second World War Gibson left the bank to go on military service, becoming a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery. He was killed in action in Italy on 2 May 1944. He was 30 years old.
John Gibson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Hardman Boulevard office, Manchester.
