William Arthur Foulstone was born in 1922, the son of William Arthur Foulstone and his wife Mary Edith. He was educated at Chesterfield Grammar School.
In October 1939, when he was about 17 years old, Foulstone went to work for Williams Deacon's Bank at its Sheffield branch. In July 1941 he left the bank to go on military service, serving in the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own).
By April 1945 Lance Corporal Foulstone was serving in India (now Bangladesh). He was wounded on active service there and died of his injuries on 28 April 1945. He was 23 years old.
William Foulstone is commemorated on a bank war memorial at Hardman Boulevard office, Manchester.
