Kenneth Fry was born on 28 August 1911 and joined the staff of Westminster Bank in January 1929. From December 1934 he was based at the bank's Bournemouth branch.
Outside work Fry was a territorial soldier, and so at the outbreak of war in 1939 he was called to active service as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers. He was on a seven-day leave in August 1940 when he fell ill with meningitis and died on 13 August 1940. He was 28 years old. His obituary in the bank's staff magazine noted, 'Mr Fry was a man of the highest integrity, absolutely reliable and conscientious in his work, with a kind and generous disposition and one whose sterling qualities will be greatly missed.'
