John Fairley

John McDonald Fairley was born in Larbert in 1911, the son of the Reverend John Fairley and his wife Janet. He worked for Commercial Bank of Scotland. 

 

During the Second World War Fairley left his job at the bank's Oban branch to go on military service, becoming a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery. He died in Syria on 4 September 1943. He was 32 years old and left a widow, Hilda Elizabeth, whom he had married in 1938.
