Llewellyn Cyril Erwood was born on 18 April 1924, the son of John Edward and Dulcie May Erwood. He joined the temporary messenger staff of Westminster Bank's chief Bristol branch in March 1940, at the age of 15.
When he was old enough, he left the bank to go on war service, becoming an Air Mechanic in the Royal Navy. He was posted to HMS Jackdaw, a Fleet Air Arm base in Fife, Scotland, where he fell ill and died on 19 October 1943. He was 19 years old.
Llewellyn Erwood is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Bristol City Office.
