Peter George Copping was born on 7 November 1922, the son of Hilda Mary and George Douglas Copping. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank in September 1939, working at the bank's London Lombard Street office.
He later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Sergeant (Air Gunner) in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was killed during air operations over Germany on 29 January 1944. He was 21 years old.
Peter Copping is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest City of London office.
