Bank: District Bank

Place of work: Lytham St Annes branch

Died: 30 August 1942

Fred Noble Clayton was born on 11 April 1907, the son of James and Hilda Clayton. He joined the staff of Manchester & County Bank at its Lytham St Annes branch in November 1923. In 1935 County Bank, as it was then known, was taken over by District Bank, so Clarkson became an employee of that bank. In January 1941 Clayton left the bank to go on military service, joining the Royal Artillery. On 30 August 1942 Gunner Clayton was killed in action in North Africa. He was 35 years old and left his widow, Annie.
