Eric Colin Curtis was born on 21 October 1918, the son of Eric and Annie Curtis. He was educated at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Leominster branch in April 1937. He was promoted to junior clerk in July 1937 and to clerk in July 1939.
Curtis was a Territorial soldier, and was called up for full time military service at the outbreak of war in September 1939. He quickly obtained a commission in the King's Shropshire Light Infantry, and by 1945 had risen to the rank of Major. He died of enteric fever in Ceylon on 8 September 1945. He was 36 years old.
