Eric Frank Crowhurst was born on 21 September 1920 and joined the staff of Westminster Bank at its Chichester branch in September 1937. He transferred to Petworth branch five months later.
In May 1941 Crowhurst left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Sergeant Crowhurst was killed during air operations on 19 February 1943, just six weeks after his marriage to Pauline Audrey Whitcomb. He was 24 years old.
Eric Crowhurst is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Chichester branch.
