Robert Beer
Bank: Westminster Bank
Place of work: London Willesden Green branch
Died: 6 June 1941
Robert Alexander Beer was born on 9 February 1923, the son of Harold Randolph Easton Beer and his wife Florence Louise. He was possibly named after his father's younger brother Robert Alexander, who had been killed while serving in the Gloucestershire Regiment in the First World War. Like his late uncle, Beer was educated at Ardingly College, Sussex.
After leaving school Beer joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank, starting work at its Willesden Green branch in November 1940. As soon as he was old enough, however, he left the bank to go on war service, joining the Middlesex Regiment, in which his father had served in the First World War. Private Beer died on 6 June 1941, less than four months after his 18th birthday.
