Richard Bradford was born on 28 April 1924, the son of Frank and Sarah May Bradford. He joined the temporary wartime staff of Westminster Bank at its London New North Road branch in May 1941, shortly after his 16th birthday. Five months later he transferred to Old Street branch.
Bradford later left the bank to go on war service, becoming a Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He died in Egypt on 6 October 1944. He was 20 years old.
