John Howie Brown was born in about 1921, the son of John and Jessie Brown. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank in 1929 working at London Moorgate and St Giles' Circus branches before moving to Wood Green branch in 1940.
In August 1940 Brown left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Army Service Corps as a driver. Corporal Brown was killed on 11 May 1943. He was 32 years old.
