Dennis Archibald Brammer was born on 25 September 1920, the son of Archibald and Florence Brammer. He was educated at Henley High School and Alleyne's Grammar School, Stone. He joined the staff of National Provincial Bank as a probationer at Worcester branch in April 1938. He was promoted to junior clerk in July 1938 and to clerk in July 1940.
In July 1941 Brammer left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He obtained his wings and a commission in March 1943 after training in Canada, subsequently being promoted to Flying Officer. Flying Officer Brammer was killed when the Lancaster he was flying in crashed into high ground on 18 October 1944 whilst flying in cloud on a night cross-county training flight. He was 24 years old.
