Peter Louis Alen was born on 22 July 1923, the son of Louis and Queenie Alen. He joined the temporary wartime staff of The National Bank at its London Strand branch in January 1941.
In September 1942 Alen left the bank to go on war service, joining the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He was killed on 2 April 1944 when his plane collided with another during a training exercise in the United States of America. Sub Lieutenant Alen was 20 years old.
Peter Alen is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 250 Bishopsgate, London.
