Stanley William Walch was born on 16 February 1890, the son of William Crosby Walch and his wife Mabel. In July 1907, when he was 17 years old, Walch went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Walch became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.
In October 1914 Walch left his job as a clerk at the bank's Reigate branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. He died in France on 3 May 1917. He was 27 years old.
Stanley Walch is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Redhill branch.
