Robert Philip Wilson was born on 6 January 1894. He was educated at Emanuel School, Wandsworth, and Sutton Valence School, Kent. In September 1912 he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its London Piccadilly branch.
Early in the First World War Wilson left the bank to go on military service. Second Lieutenant Robert Philip Wilson of the East Yorkshire Regiment was killed in action during the landings at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli, on 7 August 1915. He was 21 years old.
Robert Wilson is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
