John Edgelow Wase was born in 1895, the son of Thomas Edgelow Wase and his wife Elizabeth Ann. From about 1911 he worked for Parr's Bank.
In May 1915 Wase left his job in the bank's Liverpool branch to join the army. He was commissioned into The King's (Liverpool Regiment), and later transferred to the Royal Flying Corps (later the Royal Air Force). Lieutenant John Edgelow Wase was killed in France on 19 August 1918. He was 23 years old.
John Wase is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Liverpool City Office branch.
