Herbert Trevor Wood was born on 14 October 1890. His father was a colliery agent. In November 1907 he went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its Stone branch. In March 1914 he moved to Leeds branch as a clerk.
During the First World War Wood joined the army, serving as a Private in The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). He was killed in action in France on 3 May 1917. He was 26 years old.
