Henry Leslie Way was born on 19 July 1886, the son of Henry James Way and his wife Charlotte. In February 1904, when he was 17 years old, he went to work for London & County Bank. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank, and Way became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.
In April 1917 Way left his job at the bank's Aylesbury branch to go on military service as a Private in the Honourable Artillery Company. He was killed on active service on 9 October 1917. He was 31 years old and left a widow, Ellen, whom he had married in October 1913.
Henry Way is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Aylesbury branch.
