Guy Powell Wright was born in 1878, the son of Samuel Wright, a hosiery agent, and his wife Mary. He worked for Parr's Bank, and was a member of the bank's staff sports club.
In February 1916 Wright left his job at the bank's London Bartholomew Lane office to go on military service, initially as a Private in the Royal Fusiliers. In August 1917 he was commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment.
Second Lieutenant Guy Powell Wright of the Middlesex Regiment, attached to The King's (Liverpool Regiment), was killed in action in France on 2 July 1918. He was 39 years old.
Guy Wright is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
