George Sinclair Wilson was born in Berwick upon Tweed in 1894, the son of Jane Wilson, a twine manufacturer. In 1909 he went to work for Commercial Bank of Scotland.
In March 1915 he was appointed accountant at the bank's Eyemouth branch, but he subsequently left that job to go on military service, becoming a Private in the Royal Scots. He was killed in action on the Somme on 23 July 1916 while serving as a Private in the Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment). He was 22 years old.
George Wilson is commemorated on a bank war memorial at 36 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.
