George Lamb Walker was born in Kentish Town, London, in 1881, the son of Robert Lamb Walker and his wife Martha. In August 1906 he went to work for London & County Bank as a messenger. In 1909 London & County Bank merged with London & Westminster Bank and Walker became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank.
In October 1916 Walker left his job at the bank's Maidstone branch to join the army, serving as a Private in the London Regiment. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 21 September 1917. He was 36 years old and left a widow, May, whom he had married in 1913.
George Walker is commemorated on a bank war memorial at NatWest Maidstone branch.
