Arthur Henry Williams was born on 18 February 1897, the son of Jeremiah and Jane Williams. He was educated at Llanfyllin County Intermediate School.
In April 1913, when he was 17 years old, Williams went to work for National Provincial Bank of England as an apprentice at its Welshpool branch. In October 1915 he transferred to Bargoed branch.
In 1916 Williams left the bank to go on military service. Private Arthur Henry Williams of the Royal Fusiliers died of wounds received in action in France on 10 October 1916. He was 19 years old.
