William Archibald Tudball, known as 'Tuddy', was born on 22 October 1886, the son of Charles Daubeny Tudball and his wife Martha Elizabeth. After leaving school he became a clerk at Ocean Accident Assurance Corporation, but in April 1903 left that job to join London & Westminster Bank. He was appointed a teller at the bank's London City office in December 1904. He later served as teller at the bank's London Islington and Tottenham Court Road branches.

In 1909 London & Westminster Bank merged with London & County Bank and Tudball became an employee of the enlarged London County & Westminster Bank. In January 1911 he was appointed a clerk (4th class) at the bank's London head office, before moving to London Hampstead branch in May 1914.

Tudball was a member of the bank's staff sports club. He was captain of the bank's fourth rugby XV, and represented the bank at competitive walking events. He also captained one of the bank's staff chess teams.

In 1914 Tudball left the bank to join the army. By 1916 he was a Lance Corporal in the London Regiment. He was killed in action on 7 October 1916. He was 29 years old.

William Tudball is commemorated on a bank war memorial held at NatWest Group Archives.
